Professional Experience
Extensive clinical experience across all areas of maternity care, including antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal and neonatal services.
Currently practising as a rotational midwife, managing both low and high risk cases.
Clinical competencies include but are not limited to; risk assessment, fetal growth, monitoring, triage, cardiotocograph (CTG) interpretation, oxytocin administration, escalation procedures, obstetric emergencies, perineal repair and neonatal resuscitation.
Previously held specialist midwifery roles, delivering training in core clinical procedures and leading on safety improvement initiatives and system level governance.
Additional qualifications in mentorship, professional midwifery advocate, advanced clinical practice including examination of the newborn and provision of educational sessions.
Medico-Legal Experience
Significant experience in maternity safety investigations and report writing.
Experienced in giving evidence as a factual witness at inquests and presenting findings in formal settings.
Attended formal training in the medico-legal process and fully aware of responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) relating to expert witnesses.
Over two years experience as an expert witness, completing over 50 reports during this time.
Experienced in attending case conferences, summits and expert meetings.
Experienced in limited screening reports, early notification scheme reports, professional regulation and full reports.
45/55 Claimant/Defendant split.
Provision of reports for English, Scottish, Irish and Welsh Legal Systems.
